Hearing Protection

Exposure to noise and infections from water exposure can cause permanent hearing loss. Beltone not only makes hearing aids, but they also create devices to protect your hearing too. The Beltone Hearing Centre Lethbridge fits custom hearing protection solutions for work or play. The hearing aid practitioner will make a mold of your ear in less than 30 minutes. This mold can then be used to personalise your hearing protection for hours of comfortable wear.

Earmolds and earplugs

Custom earmolds can be made with a variety of materials. Some custom earmolds are made of soft and spongy material, while others are made with solid material. Earmolds sit at the top of the ear canal and are available in a full shell or half shell design depending on your hearing protection needs. Custom earmolds can be fitted with a filtered attenuator that blocks out sound at damaging decibel levels while allowing safe levels of sound, such as conversation through. Digital models for hunters amplify background noise, so you hear game clearly while blocking the sound from gunfire.

Custom earplugs are made from a cast of your ear canal. They will fit the contours of your ears perfectly. This makes them much more comfortable to wear and provides superior protection compared to on-the-shelf earplugs. Many are fitted with small handles or cords for easy insertion and removal.

Musicians earplugs and in-ear monitors

All musicians are at risk of developing hearing issues due to noise exposure. This includes:

  • Hearing loss
  • Tinnitus
  • Intolerance to loud noise
  • Problems with pitch-perception

But regular earplugs don’t help musicians. That’s because musicians have unique needs for hearing protection. Beltone understands that musicians must be able to hear background music without distortion or feedback to perform their best.

Beltone earplugs for musicians have been the high-fidelity hearing protector of choice for musicians for over 25 years. Let the hearing aid practitioner at Beltone Hearing Centre Lethbridge create a custom hearing solution for you.

Other uses for earplugs

People exposed to noise at work or at play aren’t the only ones that benefit from custom hearing protection.

Swimmers appreciate custom earplugs to keep water out of the ear. Many models even float.

Frequent travelers and shift workers appreciate the quiet they get from custom earplugs. Just insert and close your eyes for a quiet sleeping environment.
